ED SHEERAN - DIVIDE
Deluxe Edition — 180g 45 RPM 2LP Vinyl
Ed Sheeran’s third studio album, ÷ (pronounced Divide), is a hugely ambitious record that moves effortlessly between intimate acoustic songwriting, folk influences, hip-hop, R&B and contemporary pop. Released in 2017, it marked another major step in Sheeran’s evolution from singer-songwriter to global pop phenomenon.
The album opens with “Eraser”, combining acoustic guitar with rapid-fire vocals and autobiographical lyrics, before moving into the stadium-sized “Castle on the Hill”. “Dive” and “Shape of You” demonstrate two very different sides of Sheeran’s pop songwriting — the former built around a soaring vocal performance, the latter around an instantly recognisable rhythmic hook.
Elsewhere, “Perfect” strips everything back to one of Sheeran’s most enduring romantic songs, while “Galway Girl”brings Irish folk influences into a hugely accessible pop setting. “Happier”, “New Man” and “What Do I Know?” add further perspectives on relationships, fame and identity.
The album’s closing stretch is particularly varied. “Supermarket Flowers” is a deeply personal tribute to Sheeran’s late grandmother, while “Barcelona”, “Bibia Be Ye Ye” and “Nancy Mulligan” draw on different cultural and musical influences. The record closes with “Save Myself”, a reflective conclusion that turns the album’s focus back towards Sheeran himself.
Recorded across London, Los Angeles, Suffolk and even aboard the Queen Mary 2, ÷ became a worldwide phenomenon. It topped charts around the globe and produced some of Sheeran’s biggest songs, including “Shape of You”, “Perfect”, “Castle on the Hill” and “Galway Girl.”
This edition is the Deluxe 2LP pressing on 180g black vinyl, mastered at 45 RPM. The four-sided presentation gives each section of the album plenty of room, while the deluxe edition includes all four additional tracks that were not part of the original standard 12-track release.
