2025 Reissue — Black Vinyl

Fall Out Boy’s From Under the Cork Tree is the album that transformed the Chicago band from an underground favourite into one of the defining acts of the mid-2000s emo and pop-punk explosion. Originally released in 2005, the band's third studio album combines infectious guitar melodies, rapid-fire rhythms and Pete Wentz's distinctive lyrical style with Patrick Stump's increasingly powerful vocals.

Produced by Neal Avron, the album captures Fall Out Boy at the point where their sound began moving beyond the confines of the pop-punk scene. The songs are packed with huge choruses and intricate arrangements, while Wentz's famously elaborate song titles and emotionally charged lyrics give the record an identity all of its own.

“Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued” opens the album with a burst of guitars and Stump's instantly recognisable voice. “Of All the Gin Joints in All the World” follows before “Dance, Dance” delivers one of the band's defining songs — a tightly constructed, bass-driven anthem that became a major breakthrough hit.

Then comes “Sugar, We're Goin Down”, the song that propelled Fall Out Boy into the mainstream. Its combination of soaring vocals, urgent guitars and an unforgettable chorus became one of the defining sounds of 2000s alternative music. “Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner” and “I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea...” continue the album's mixture of melody and emotional intensity.

The second half moves through “7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen)”, “Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year” and “Champagne for My Real Friends, Real Pain for My Sham Friends”, before “I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy...” and “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me'” keep the momentum high.

The album closes with “Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part to Save the Scene and Stop Going to Shows)” and “XO”, ending a record that perfectly captured the ambition, melodrama and restless energy of Fall Out Boy's breakthrough era.

From Under the Cork Tree became a double-platinum album and remains one of the key records of the 2000s emo and pop-punk generation. More than twenty years after its original release, its enormous hooks and unmistakable personality have ensured its place as one of Fall Out Boy's essential albums.

This 2025 Island Records reissue marks the album's first release as a single LP on standard black vinyl, housed in a gatefold jacket with a printed inner sleeve. Released on 18 July 2025, it presents the original thirteen-track album in its entirety.
