GABRIELLE APLIN - ENGLISH RAIN
2026 Limited Edition Rainbow Splatter Vinyl
Gabrielle Aplin’s debut studio album, English Rain, is a beautifully understated collection of folk-pop songwriting that established her as one of Britain’s most distinctive singer-songwriters. Originally released in 2013, the album combines delicate acoustic arrangements, expressive vocals and deeply personal songwriting with a warm, atmospheric production style.
The album opens with “Panic Cord”, immediately showcasing Aplin’s ability to turn intimate storytelling into beautifully crafted pop. “Keep On Walking” and “Please Don’t Say You Love Me” continue that gentle, emotionally direct approach, while her celebrated interpretation of “The Power of Love” became one of the defining moments of her early career.
Elsewhere, “Home”, “Salvation” and “Alive” reveal the depth and variety within Aplin’s songwriting. There is a consistent sense of intimacy throughout the record, with acoustic instrumentation and carefully layered production allowing her distinctive voice to remain at the centre.
The album originally reached number two on the UK Albums Chart, cementing Aplin’s reputation as a compelling new British songwriter. More than a decade later, English Rain remains an album defined by its warmth, sincerity and timeless approach to folk-pop.
This special 2026 reissue is pressed on Clear Vinyl with Rainbow Splatter, with each record offering its own individual colour pattern. The edition also expands the original album with two bonus tracks, including “Start Again”, previously associated with the television series Skins. It makes for a particularly striking collector’s edition of Aplin’s debut.
