GREEN DAY - DOOKIE
Limited Edition Raspberry Coloured Vinyl
Green Day’s Dookie is the album that turned a scrappy California punk trio into one of the biggest bands in alternative music. Released in 1994, the band's third studio album — and their major-label debut — took the energy and attitude of underground punk and delivered it with an irresistible sense of melody, humour and immediacy.
Produced by Rob Cavallo and Green Day, Dookie is remarkably direct. The songs are short, sharp and packed with huge guitar hooks, rapid-fire drums and Billie Joe Armstrong’s unmistakable vocals. Beneath the playful surface, however, the album explores anxiety, boredom, isolation, relationships and the frustrations of growing up.
“Burnout” launches the album at full speed before “Having a Blast” and “Chump” establish the restless energy that runs throughout the record. “Longview” brings a famously bass-driven groove and a portrait of boredom and apathy, while “Welcome to Paradise” captures the excitement and uncertainty of leaving home.
Then comes “Basket Case”, one of Green Day’s defining songs and one of the most recognisable pop-punk tracks of the 1990s. “She”, “Sassafras Roots” and “When I Come Around” continue the run of instantly memorable songs, balancing infectious choruses with Armstrong’s increasingly personal songwriting.
The closing stretch moves through “Coming Clean”, “Emenius Sleepus” and “In the End”, before “F.O.D.” provides a final burst of quiet tension followed by a furious electric outro. Across just fourteen tracks, Dookie manages to feel both incredibly immediate and remarkably influential.
The album became a landmark release for the 1990s punk revival, helping introduce a generation of listeners to a more accessible form of punk without sacrificing the speed, attitude and irreverence at its heart. More than three decades later, Dookie remains one of Green Day’s defining records and a cornerstone of modern pop-punk.
This edition is the limited edition Raspberry coloured vinyl pressing, released in 2025 to mark more than three decades of Dookie. Pressed as a single LP, it gives one of the most important albums in Green Day’s catalogue a distinctive collector-focused physical edition.
