GREEN DAY - FATHER OF ALL MOTHER FUCKERS
LIMITED EDITION RED VINYL LP
Father of All... is the thirteenth studio album from American rock band Green Day, released on 7 February 2020 via Reprise Records. Arriving as the follow-up to Revolution Radio, the album marked a bold change in direction for the Grammy Award-winning trio, embracing a rawer, more immediate sound influenced by garage rock, punk, power pop and classic rock ’n’ roll.
Produced by Butch Walker alongside Green Day, the record strips back some of the band's familiar arena-rock sound in favour of short, punchy tracks driven by distorted guitars, infectious rhythms and Billie Joe Armstrong’s unmistakable vocal delivery. Across its ten songs, the band experiment with different textures and influences while retaining the irreverent energy and rebellious attitude that have defined their career.
The album opens with the explosive title track, “Father of All...”, setting the pace with its driving beat and distorted, falsetto-tinged vocals. “Fire, Ready, Aim” delivers a fast, politically charged burst of punk energy, while “Oh Yeah!” draws on a recognisable sample from Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ version of “Do You Wanna Touch Me”. Elsewhere, “Meet Me on the Roof” introduces a more melodic, retro-inspired sound, while “I Was a Teenage Teenager” channels youthful frustration through a garage-rock lens.
The second half continues with the aggressive guitar work of “Stab You in the Heart”, the frantic power-pop energy of “Sugar Youth” and the darker, more atmospheric “Junkies on a High”. “Take the Money and Crawl” brings another dose of urgency and attitude before the album closes with “Graffitia”, a more expansive track that builds towards a powerful conclusion.
