HOLLY HUMBERSTONE - PAINT MY BEDROOM BLACK

Limited Edition 140g Eco-Mix Coloured Vinyl

Holly Humberstone’s debut studio album, Paint My Bedroom Black, is an intimate and atmospheric record about relationships, isolation, growing up and the uncertainty that comes with finding your place in the world. Released in 2023, it expands the bedroom-pop intimacy of her earlier work into something darker, richer and more expansive.

The album moves effortlessly between delicate alternative pop and more immersive electronic production. “Paint My Bedroom Black” sets the tone immediately, while “Into Your Room”, “Cocoon” and “Kissing In Swimming Pools”explore the intensity and complications of relationships. “Ghost Me” and “Superbloodmoon” add further layers to the album’s nocturnal atmosphere.

The second half becomes increasingly introspective, from the restless “Antichrist” and vulnerable “Lauren” through to the stripped-back “Baby Blues”, “Flatlining” and the closing “Room Service”. Humberstone’s distinctive voice remains the constant throughout, giving even the biggest productions an unmistakably personal quality.

Produced with collaborators including Rob Milton and other key figures in the contemporary alternative-pop scene, Paint My Bedroom Black captures Humberstone at an important point in her development — moving from emerging singer-songwriter to a fully realised album artist.

This edition is particularly distinctive for collectors. Pressed on 140g Eco-Mix coloured vinyl, the record uses recycled colour compound that would otherwise have been discarded, meaning each pressing can have its own individual colour variation. It is presented as a limited edition with an alternate cover and lyric sheet, giving the album a more collectable physical format.
