LOLA YOUNG – I'M ONLY F**KING MYSELF
THE PUNCHING BAG EDITION | INDIE EXCLUSIVE MARBLED VINYL LP
I'm Only F**king Myself is the second studio album from British singer-songwriter Lola Young, released on 19 September 2025 through Island Records. Following the breakthrough success of her earlier work, the album finds Young embracing an uncompromising approach to songwriting, blending alternative pop, indie rock, soul and grunge influences with the raw vocals and unfiltered honesty that have become central to her sound.
Across fourteen tracks, Young explores the contradictions of self-image, relationships, desire and emotional vulnerability. Her writing moves between biting humour, confrontational self-reflection and moments of uncomfortable honesty, creating a record that feels deliberately messy and intensely personal. Rather than presenting a polished version of herself, Young confronts the more complicated aspects of identity, self-sabotage and the ways people navigate their own imperfections.
The album features the single “One Thing”, alongside tracks including “F**K EVERYONE”, “d£aler” and “SPIDERS”. “Penny Out of Nothing” and “Walk All Over You” continue the album’s exploration of personal conflict, while “Post Sex Clarity” examines the emotional complexities that can follow intimacy. The provocative titles and contrasting moods reflect Young’s willingness to approach difficult subjects with both vulnerability and irreverence.
Later tracks such as “SAD SOB STORY! :)” and “CAN WE IGNORE IT? :(” reinforce the record’s blend of emotional intensity and dark humour. “why do i feel better when i hurt you?” turns its attention towards the contradictions that can emerge within relationships, while “Not Like That Anymore” and “who f**king cares?” continue the album’s confrontational approach to self-examination. The record closes with “ur an absolute c word (interlude)”, maintaining the irreverent, unfiltered character that runs throughout the collection.
Musically, I'm Only F**king Myself draws on a broad palette of contemporary alternative sounds, moving between pop hooks, soul-inflected vocals and rougher, more abrasive textures. The result is a deeply personal record that embraces imperfection rather than attempting to resolve every contradiction, establishing Young as an artist willing to explore the uncomfortable edges of her own experiences.
