NOAH KAHAN - BUSYHEAD

Debut Studio Album · Black Vinyl LP

Before Stick Season made Noah Kahan a household name, there was Busyhead — the debut that introduced the world to his distinctive blend of folk, alternative pop and deeply personal songwriting.

Released in 2019, the album captures Kahan at the beginning of his journey, balancing the uncertainty of growing up with the pull of home. Born and raised in rural Vermont, his surroundings became an important part of his songwriting, with Busyhead filled with stories about relationships, self-doubt, nostalgia and the strange process of figuring out where you belong.

The album opens with “False Confidence”, an instantly recognisable example of Kahan's ability to turn insecurity into something infectious, before moving through the reflective “Mess”, the emotionally charged “Hurt Somebody” featuring Julia Michaels, and “Young Blood”.

There's a rawness throughout Busyhead that makes it particularly interesting in hindsight. The themes and songwriting instincts that would eventually define Stick Season are already here — just in an earlier, less polished form.

For collectors, Busyhead represents an important piece of the Noah Kahan story: the debut album before the breakthrough, documenting the beginnings of an artist whose songwriting would later connect with an enormous audience.
