NOAH KAHAN - CAPE ELIZABETH

NOAH KAHAN - CAPE ELIZABETH

£27.50Price

Limited Edition · Aqua Blue Coloured 12" Vinyl EP

Before Stick Season turned Noah Kahan into one of the biggest names in modern folk, there was Cape Elizabeth — a small, deeply personal collection of songs that quietly laid the foundations for everything that followed.

Originally released digitally in 2020, the five-track EP was written and recorded in just six days at a friend's home studio in Vermont. Stripped back, intimate and unpolished in all the right ways, Cape Elizabeth feels less like a traditional studio project and more like a snapshot of Kahan's life at a particular moment.

“A Troubled Mind”, “Close Behind”, “Glue Myself Shut”, “Anyway” and “Maine” capture the homesickness, relationships, uncertainty and sense of place that would later become central to Kahan's songwriting. There's a rawness here that makes the EP particularly compelling — acoustic guitars, understated arrangements and lyrics that feel like they were written for an audience of one.

Kahan himself has described the project as an important turning point in his songwriting, giving him the confidence that his very personal, place-specific stories could connect with people far beyond Vermont. That connection ultimately helped pave the way for Stick Season.

This limited 2024 vinyl edition gives Cape Elizabeth its first widely available physical treatment, pressed on Aqua Blue coloured vinyl. A beautifully understated record from the early chapter of an artist whose songwriting would soon become impossible to ignore.
