180g Black Vinyl — First Time on Vinyl

Puddle of Mudd broke into the mainstream with Come Clean, the band's major-label debut and the album that established them as one of the prominent American rock acts of the early 2000s. Originally released in 2001, the record blends post-grunge heaviness with radio-ready melodies, distorted guitars and the unmistakable rough-edged vocals of frontman Wes Scantlin.

Produced by John Kurzweg, Come Clean captures the sound of early-2000s alternative rock at a moment when post-grunge was dominating rock radio. The album balances heavy guitar riffs with instantly memorable choruses, giving the band a sound that could move between aggressive rock and more melodic, introspective material.

“Control” opens the album with one of its most recognisable riffs and immediately establishes the band's heavier side. “Drift & Die” follows with a darker, more atmospheric approach, while “Out of My Head” and “Nobody Told Me”continue the album's combination of distorted guitars and melodic hooks.

Then comes “Blurry”, arguably the defining song on Come Clean. Its combination of vulnerability, understated verses and huge chorus helped make it one of the era's most recognisable alternative-rock singles. “She Hates Me” shifts the mood again, bringing a much more irreverent and energetic approach and becoming another major hit from the album.

The second half moves through “Bring Me Down”, “Never Change” and “Basement”, before “Said” brings a more reflective tone. The album closes with “Piss It All Away”, a darker and more stripped-back conclusion that rounds out the record's mixture of aggression and vulnerability.

Come Clean became Puddle of Mudd's breakthrough record and remains closely associated with the sound of early-2000s post-grunge and alternative rock. Its singles helped introduce the band to a huge international audience, while the album's direct songwriting and heavy-but-melodic production have given it lasting appeal among fans of the era.

This edition is particularly notable for collectors as the first official vinyl pressing of Come Clean. Released by Music On Vinyl in 2017, it is pressed on 180g black vinyl and includes a four-page insert featuring lyrics and credits. The single LP contains the complete eleven-track album across two sides.
