SHABOOZEY - THE OUTLAW CHERIE LEE & OTHER WESTERN TALES
Concept Album · 2LP Black Vinyl · Gatefold Edition
With The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales, Shaboozey takes the Western mythology running through his music and turns it into something much more cinematic — a full concept album built around revenge, violence, love and redemption.
At the centre of the story is Cherie Lee, a woman who witnesses the murder of her sheriff father at the hands of the Bootcut Boys. Abandoning the badge, she sets out to hunt the gang down one by one. Along the way, however, she falls for one of the outlaws — a man who wasn't responsible for her father's death, but is guilty through his association with the gang.
What follows is a story of revenge that gradually becomes something darker and more complicated. Love offers the possibility of redemption, but when the real killer resurfaces, violence sets the story on its final course.
Musically, Shaboozey continues the genre-blurring approach that made Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going such a success. Country, hip-hop, Americana and cinematic Western influences collide across twenty tracks, with an impressive cast of collaborators including Jamie Foxx, Gunna, Leon Bridges, Teyana Taylor, Kehlani, Sam Elliott and Orville Peck.
From the opening “The Outlaw Cherie Lee” through “High Noon”, “Burn It Down”, “Bullets + Blades” and the closing “The Epilogue”, the songs work together as chapters in a larger narrative rather than simply a collection of individual tracks.
Pressed across two 140g black vinyl LPs and housed in a gatefold sleeve, this is Shaboozey at his most ambitious — a modern Western told through music, with every song helping to push Cherie Lee's story towards its inevitable conclusion.
