SOMBRE - I BARELY KNOW HER
Limited Edition Black Vinyl
sombr’s debut studio album, I Barely Know Her, is an intimate and emotionally raw introduction to one of alternative pop’s most distinctive emerging voices. Written entirely by sombr and co-produced with Tony Berg, the album turns the messy contradictions of young love, heartbreak and uncertainty into ten sharply observed songs.
The record grew out of sombr’s bedroom recordings and retains that sense of closeness even as the production expands. “12 to 12”, “back to friends” and “undressed” balance immediate pop hooks with a more vulnerable, melancholic edge, while “crushing”, “i wish i knew how to quit you” and “canal street” lean further into the emotional turbulence running through the album.
There is a constant tension between intimacy and scale throughout I Barely Know Her. Fuzzy guitars, sparse piano and layered production give sombr’s understated vocal plenty of room, allowing the songs to feel personal without becoming overly polished. “dime”, “come closer”, “we never dated” and “under the mat” complete a tightly focused debut that rarely strays from its central themes of attraction, distance and emotional uncertainty.
The album follows sombr’s rapid rise from making music as a teenager in New York to becoming one of the breakout alternative artists of his generation. Rather than relying on elaborate production, I Barely Know Her puts the songwriting front and centre — a quality that gives the record a particularly direct and personal character.
This edition is pressed on black vinyl and presented with a printed inner sleeve, making it a straightforward and highly collectable physical edition of sombr’s debut album.
