Taylor Swift’s ninth studio album, evermore, arrived as a surprise in December 2020, just months after folklore. Described by Swift as a sister record to its predecessor, it continues the storytelling, atmospheric production and alternative folk influences that defined that unexpected new chapter in her music.
Where folklore often felt introspective and stripped back, evermore expands its world with a slightly more experimental and restless character. “willow” opens the album with its winding guitar lines and understated production, while “champagne problems” turns a failed engagement into one of Swift’s most vivid pieces of character-driven songwriting.
The record is rich with stories and imagined characters. “no body, no crime”, featuring HAIM, brings a darker country influence, while “dorothea”, “ivy” and “cowboy like me” continue the album’s fascination with complicated relationships and lives that exist somewhere between memory and fiction.
Swift again worked extensively with Aaron Dessner of The National, alongside Jack Antonoff and other collaborators. Justin Vernon of Bon Iver appears on the title track, “evermore”, while The National’s Matt Berninger joins Swift on “coney island”. Together, the collaborations give the album a rich, organic sound built around guitars, piano, strings and subtle electronic textures.
The physical deluxe edition adds two tracks that were not included on the original standard digital release: “right where you left me” and “it’s time to go”. Both songs extend the album’s themes of endings, memory and emotional aftermath, making the expanded vinyl edition particularly significant for collectors.
This edition is pressed across two opaque green vinyl discs and housed in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves. With its additional tracks and distinctive green vinyl, it remains one of the most sought-after physical editions of Swift’s 2020 sister album.
